Protect Your Water Ionizer From Hard Water Damage
Protect Your Family From Harmful Contaminants!

More and more people are coming to realize that the "perfect water" system would combine the purity of Reverse Osmosis (RO) with the tremendous benefits provided by alkaline, ionized water. Historically, this has not been easily achieved for a variety of reasons.

Features
The WQA certified experts at AlkaViva have solved the problem of combining these two phenomenal water technologies. Now you can have perfectly clean and perfectly healthy water!

To keep your RO System functioning at an optimum level, its filters need to be changed annually. Additionally, the RO Membrane needs to be replaced every two years.

The AlkaViva RO Annual Replacement Package includes a sediment filter, a carbon block filter, an inline re-mineralizing cartridge (which uses calcite as a pH stabilizing media by sacrificing calcium carbonate into the water), and a taste & odor (coconut shell GAC) filter.

Works perfectly with your IonWays water ionizer.

Also, to give you the best possible performance, we include in this package the original Permeate Pump (ERP1000). This simple, yet revolutionary, device uses no electricity as it is powered by the hydraulic energy of brine water usually lost to the drain. In other words, the Permeate Pump forces product water into the storage tank, reducing membrane back pressure and maximizing available feed pressure. It also dramatically improve the efficiency of RO water production, reducing wastewater by up to 80%.. Other benefits of this Aquatec Pump (as well as a higher delivery pressure) are up to 4 times faster RO water production, superior water quality and extended filter/membrane life.

Additionally, since internal ionizer filters are no longer required when using the AlkaViva Reverse Osmosis System, the package comes with either one or two blank filter cartridges (choose confirguration when adding this item to your shopping cart) to be used inside of your water ionizer. This helps to reduce yearly filter costs, since you will no longer be required to replace your water ionizer's internal filter(s).

Hardness: Recommended hardness not to exceed 15 grains per gallon, or 260ppm. System will operate with hardness over 15 grains but the membrane life may be shortened. Addition of a water softener may lengthen the membrane life.

Water Pressure: The operating water pressure in your home should be tested over a 24 hour period to attain the maximum pressure. If the incoming water pressure is above 85 psi a pressure regulator is recommended and if over 100 psi then a pressure regulator is required.

Copper Tubing: Reverse Osmosis water should not be run through copper tubing as the purity of the water will leach copper causing an objectionable taste in water and pin holes may form in the tubing. Only use the tubing provided with your RO system. Be sure to follow any state or local regulations during installation.

Does the Reverse Osmosis System require a plumber for installation? Basic plumbing skills are required to install the RO System. If you're uncomfortable with the procedure in the instructions, a plumber may be required. Does the Reverse Osmosis System install under the sink? Yes. Because of the size of the tank and the filter block, the best place to install an R.O. system is under your sink. Can my ionizer still be above the sink even if the R.O. system is below the sink? Although many people run the hose from the R.O. tank up to the counter top to attach to their water ionizer, it is more convenient, when using the R.O. system in conjunction with an ionizer, to put the ionizer under the sink with one of our Under Sink Installation Kits. If you decide to keep your machine above the counter, you only need to make sure to have a space/opening/hole to run the hose from the R.O. tank to the water inlet of your water ionizer. Why would I need to use this R.O. system in conjunction with my ionizer? There are several reasons that people need to use this system with their water ionizers. The first, and most common, is when your tap water is very hard, and the calcium content of your water will damage the interior of the ionizer. The second reason is when your tap water is being fed to the sink through a sodium or potassium based water softener. The only way to filter out the sodium and potassium is through reverse osmosis. You don't want to drink water that has been "softened" from your water ionizer. The third reason to use this system is if your tap water is considered to be overly contaminated; which can include bacteria, nitrates and nitrites, fluoride, arsenic, excessive heavy metals, etc. The AlkaViva Reverse Osmosis System is a great way to clean up your tap water, add vital minerals back and then send the water to your ionizer. You get the best of both worlds! I run a coffee shop. Should I get this unit to clean up the water? No. The one drawback about using the R.O. system is that you are limited in the amount of water you can get at any one time, due to the tank needing to refill. If you are running a commercial operation, this unit will not produce water at a fast enough pace for you to always have water available. For household use, the GPD rate of the membrane is perfect; but not if you are attempting to get water at a rate of more than 3 or so gallons per hour. If the R.O. System is removing all of the minerals from my hard water, why is there a mineral cartridge putting minerals back in? A reverse osmosis system does remove nearly everything from water, including minerals. But, your water ionizer requires minerals in the water for the ionization process to occur. The inline mineral cartridge puts essential minerals back into the water, after the membrane, at the proper rate. Also, purified water that comes from an R.O. system is acidic... so the minerals bring the water back to a more natural alkaline state. Drinking straight R.O. water can have detrimental health effects. My water pressure is very low in my house. Can I still use this system? Yes, as long as you use an R.O. booster pump to increase the water pressure going into the R.O. unit. You can purchase an R.O. booster pump from many retail plumbing and hardware stores. Just be sure that the pump puts out no more than 100 psi. The booster pump gets installed between the water source and the main filter block. When adding this unit to my shopping cart, it is asking me to choose my ionizer setup. What if I am not using this with a water ionizer? The AlkaViva Reverse Osmosis System is also a great choice for those that do not have an ionizer, and simply want the benefits of the larger tank size, faster membrane refill rate and mineral cartridge. Simply choose "None [Stand Alone Use]" from the selection pull-down menu, and we will include an R.O. faucet with your system, in lieu of the internal blank ionizer cartridges. How does the "auto-shutoff valve" work? When the tank pressure reaches 85% of the incoming water pressure, the auto-shutoff valve stops water from entering the system, as the tank is now full. When you get water from the tank, and the tank begins to empty, the auto-shutoff valve will then allow water to enter the R.O. system once the tank pressure falls below 65% of the incoming water pressure. I hear a strange gurgling noise coming from my sink drain. Is that normal? Yes, that is quite normal. What you are hearing is the sound of the "brine" water being flushed down the drain. The brine is the water that is carrying away all of the contaminants that have been removed by the R.O. membrane. This sound will stop as soon as the tank fills up, and the auto-shutoff valve is activated. If this sound does not ever stop, there may be a problem with your auto-shutoff valve. What if I have trouble installing the system, and I need help? You can call AlkaViva at (775) 324-2400 and speak with a technician. They are there to help, and can walk you through the step-by-step process of installing the Reverse Osmosis System to make sure everything goes cleanly and smoothly for our customers.
