Remove Dangerous Fluoride & Arsenic From Right Inside Your Ionizer!

Highly Fluoridated water may be dangerous to your health. Drinking water with fluoride levels above 2 mg/L can lead to mottling of the teeth. Ongoing levels above 4 mg/L can result in serious health problems. Fortunately for those with the Athena JS-205 water ionizer, we have the solution.... the Jupiter Ionizer Fluoride Filter.

The Jupiter Ionizer Fluoride Filter will be placed in the filter #1 (left) position of your Athena. The actual life of your filter is dependent upon the specific fluoride levels in your water and the length of time the filter is in service. With typical municipal water fluoride treatment levels of one milligram per liter the filter will continue to work for approximately 500 gallons or six months, whichever comes first (9999 on your filter life indicator for filter position #1). DO NOT use this product with a contaminated or biologically unsafe water supply.

Activated Alumina
Activated alumina is manufactured from aluminium hydroxide by dehydroxylating it in a way that produces a highly porous material; this material can have a surface area significantly over 200 m²/g. Activated Alumina is made of aluminium oxide, the same chemical substance as sapphire and ruby (but without the impurities that give those gems their color). It has a very high surface-area-to-weight ratio, due to the many "tunnel like" pores that it has. Although the main purpose of this filter is to remove fluoride, Activated Alumina can remove other contaminants, such as:

  • Hydrogen Chloride
  • Hydrogen Sulfide
  • Carbonyl Sulfide
  • Carbon Dioxide
  • Inorganic Arsenic
  • Selenium
  • Alcohols
  • Ethers

Vortex Channeling
Water flowing through a filter is able to "channel" around the carbon granules and avoid filtration. Water seeks the path of least resistance. When it flows through a bed of loose carbon granules, it can carve a channel where it can flow freely with little resistance. Water flowing through the channel does not come in contact with the filtration medium, thus resulting in poor performance and shorter filter life span.
The Jupiter Ionizer Fluoride Filter utilizes Vortex Channeling technology in both the inlet and outlet of the filter which forces the water to be evenly dispersed throughout the filter media. This results in a far greater amount of contact with the filtering media beds by avoiding channeling and increases the performance and life span of the filter.

The Dangers Of Fluoride
The main chemicals used to fluoridate drinking water are known as "silicofluorides" (i.e., hydrofluorosilicic acid and sodium fluorosilicate). Silicofluorides are not pharmaceutical-grade fluoride products; they are unprocessed industrial by-products of the phosphate fertilizer industry. Since these silicofluorides undergo no purification procedures, they can contain elevated levels of arsenic - moreso than any other water treatment chemical. In addition, recent research suggests that the addition of silicofluorides to water is a risk factor for elevated lead exposure, particularly among residents who live in homes with old pipes.

Fluoride has long been known to be a very toxic substance. This is why, like arsenic, fluoride has been used in pesticides and rodenticides (to kill rats, insects, etc). It is also why the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) now requires that all fluoride toothpaste sold in the U.S. carry a poison warning that instructs users to contact the poison control center if they swallow more than used for brushing.

Excessive fluoride exposure is well known to cause a painful bone disease (skeletal fluorosis), as well as a discoloration of the teeth known as dental fluorosis. Excessive fluoride exposure has also been linked to a range of other chronic ailments including arthritis, bone fragility, dental fluorosis, glucose intolerance, gastrointestinal distress, thyroid disease, and possibly cardiovascular disease and certain types of cancer.

While the lowest doses that cause some of these effects are not yet well defined, it is clear that certain subsets of the population are particularly vulnerable to fluoride's toxicity. Populations that have heightened susceptibility to fluoride include infants, individuals with kidney disease, individuals with nutrient deficiencies (particularly calcium and iodine), and individuals with medical conditions that cause excessive thirst.

Fluoride has also been proven to lower the IQ of children.

Most developed nations in the world have rejected fluoridation, including 97% of western Europe. The United States, which fluoridates more than 70% of its water supplies, is an exception to this rule. According to the British Fluoridation Society, there are more people drinking artificially fluoridated water in the United States than all other countries combined.

Still think fluoride is good for your teeth?

Dean's Bottom Line: This filter is a MUST HAVE for your Athena if you have fluoridated tap water. Allows you to remove fluoride and arsenic with an internal filter, rather than an external one. Be sure to change this filter on time.
How do I know when my filter needs to be replaced? For the most part, this filter was intended to be used in the filter #1 position of your Athena (left housing door). The filter indicator on the front of the Athena can show either filter #1 or filter #2 filter life numbers... so you want to be looking at the filter #1 indicator. When the filter indicator reaches 9999, it's time to replace the filter. Make sure you are looking at the filter #1 filter life indicator, and not filter #2 filter life indicator. Also, remember to reset the filter life indicator back to 0000 once you install the new filter. What is the adapter that comes with this filter? The Jupiter Ionizer Fluoride Filter comes with its own filter adapter, to be used inside ionizer's that currently use filter adapters. Some machines do NOT use adapters (i.e. the Melody JP-104), and so you would not use the adapter that comes with this filter. But, if your machine uses filter adapters, you want to use the included adapter with the filter. How do I install the adapter? After removing your old filter and adapter, insert the included adapter into the spring-loaded baseplate FIRST (before you install the filter). Then, after the adapter is in place you can then install the filter (inserting the top of the adapter into the bottom of the filter first). Is Activated Alumina the same as aluminum? Isn't that unhealthy? No, they are not the same. Activated Alumina is a compound derived from aluminum, but it is not itself aluminum. Just as sodium and chlorine (both atoms) by themselves would be dangerous to consume, combined they make a molecule (table salt) that is radically different then their individual components. Activated Alumina (aluminum oxide) is white and chalky in appearance, and highly porous. It is the same substance that makes a ruby or sapphire, except without any of the impurities that give those gems their color. Based on a report conducted by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) on Activated Alumina, when used a water treatment method, the EFSA concluded that "the release of cations or anions from the medium during treatment is negligible and will not pose a risk to human health." Don't we need fluoride? No. It is now well established that fluoride is not an essential nutrient. This means that no human disease - including tooth decay - will result from a "deficiency" of fluoride. Fluoridating water supplies is therefore different than adding iodine to salt. Unlike fluoride, iodine is an essential nutrient (the body needs iodine to ensure the proper functioning of the thyroid gland). No such necessity exists for fluoride. Does fluoride occur naturally in water? As a general rule, the only fresh water with high levels of fluoride (other than waters polluted by fluoride-emitting industries) is water derived from deep wells. Rather than being something to celebrate, high levels of naturally occurring fluorides have wreaked havoc on tens of millions of people's health around the world. People consuming water with naturally high levels of fluoride have been found to suffer serious health ailments including disfiguring tooth damage, bone disease, ulcers, reduced IQ, thyroid disease, and infertility. Because of this, international organizations like UNICEF assist developing nations in finding ways of removing fluoride from the water. Thankfully, most fresh water supplies contain very low levels of fluoride. The average level of fluoride in unpolluted fresh water is less than 0.1 ppm, which is about 10 times less than the levels added to water in fluoridation programs (0.7 to 1.2 ppm). The frequent claim, therefore, that "nature thought of fluoridation first" does not withstand scrutiny. Where does the fluoride added to drinking water come from? The main chemicals used to fluoridate drinking water are known as "silicofluorides" (i.e., hydrofluorosilicic acid and sodium fluorosilicate). Silicofluorides are not pharmaceutical-grade fluoride products; they are unprocessed industrial by-products of the phosphate fertilizer industry.
